For the past 40 years, JSI has been a public health management consulting and research firm committed to enhancing the health of people and communities everywhere. For the USAID-funded Global Cooperation Agreement on Country Health Information System and Data Use (CHISU), JSI is now looking for an exceptional Country Support Officer. This is a full-time job with a supervisory role that allows for remote work that is negotiable from Arlington, Virginia, USA.
The goal of the CHISU project is to improve the ability of the host nation to generate high-quality health information, to manage this information as efficiently as possible, and to institutionalize evidence-based decision-making. In order to improve the harmonization of disparate information systems, lessen duplication of data collection, and improve monitoring and tracking of a nation's own health trends and priorities, the project will collaborate with health managers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders in the host country that receives support from USAID.
To help with project country and regional program oversight, CHISU is looking for a Country Support Officer. Working closely with operations and technical staff, the Country Support Officer is part of the Country Support Unit and ensures that mission- and core-funded activities carried out in nations are coordinated and executed in a cohesive and efficient manner.
Job Requirements:
Maintaining regular communication with the resident advisors, in-country staff, and partners will help to ensure support for numerous country teams.
Encourage the smooth execution of the project by working closely with the operations and technical teams.
Assist in the technical evaluation of national or regional portfolios, and evaluate and/or produce progress reports.
Work plan negotiations with USAID Missions or Regional Bureaus should be ongoing.
Work with national and regional teams to ensure that agreed work plans are implemented.
Keep track of pertinent project deliverables, such as proofreading and editing as required.
Examine and keep up with national data files.
Gather and ready data for CHISU project evaluations and planning.
Engage in the hiring, orienting, and training of local employees.
Work together with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to make sure that the necessary information is recorded, gathered, evaluated, and used correctly in order to track and report on the advancement of national programs.
Produce, package, and publish country-level reports in collaboration with the communications team. This includes putting together technical briefs, peer-reviewed journal articles, blogs, and success stories for publication. Closely collaborate with the finance and operations teams on tasks like hiring, funding, and logistics.
When necessary, provide direct technical support to national initiatives (e.g., through national training and workshops and the creation of technical reports).
Qualification:
It is necessary to have a bachelor's degree in public health, international development, program management, or a similar discipline. Preferably a master's degree
It takes two(2) to four(4) years of experience supporting the implementation of programs in several nations under donor funding or USAID.
Being fluent not only in English but also in French is highly desirable.

exceptional communication skills both in writing and speaking
The capacity for teamwork, attention to detail, and workflow process management under time-sensitive project deadlines
Proficiency in computer literacy, including the ability to handle databases, word processing, graphical applications, and both quantitative and qualitative analysis
Strong English writing and communication abilities, especially in technical writing (previous publications a plus)
Ability to operate alone and oversee a variety of assignments on a daily basis with little assistance
Capacity to collaborate and perform well with others in a variety of cultural contexts, including technical and national teams and client representatives
Willingness to spend up to 30% of one's time traveling abroad
Pay according to experience level.
